Cinnabon rolls

Hey guys . Hope you guys weekend was good . So I made cinnamon rolls for the first day and I’ve never been scared to bake in my life until I tried these out lol . I feel like I’ve been afraid of working with yeast because it seems so hard .

It wasn’t bad but it didn’t work on the first try . So this recipe that I got from http://www.thecandidappetite.com/2014/10/27/classics-cinnamon-rolls/ it calls for you to mix the yeast with a cup of milk . I used cashew milk and I heated it up to where it is warm and then added in my yeast and a 1/4 teaspoon of sugar . I waited like 15 minutes nothing happened . So I tried it again with the exact measurements on the back of the yeast packet . It called for 1/4 cup of water warm water not too hot or it will kill the yeast . Then I used 1/4 teaspoon of sugar. I stir it and then I left it by the window . You want to put it somewhere warm . Finally it started to get frothy on top . You want to see foam and froth . If you don’t see neither start over.

After that I pretty much followed the recipe . I mixed in the 1/4 cup of melted butter the sugar and the egg yolk and mixed it in with the flour sugar and salt . I mixed in my dry ingredients with the wet ingredients . You will then form a ball of dough . I let it proof and rise for an hour in the oven with a cloth over it . The ball doubled in size . I felt like it could have gotten bigger if I let it rise for more hours but I had to leave so I took it out and put my butter, sugar, cinnamon , and a tiny pinch of nutmeg on the dough . You have to roll it out first on a surface with some flour . After you finish rolling you cut it into pieces . After that I let it rise some more for an additional 30 minutes . After that I let them bake . It took about 30-40 minutes with the oven on 350 .

While they were in the oven I made the icing . I used 8 ounce cream cheese , stick of salted butter , some brown sugar and some lemon . The lemon made it so delicious . Before you put the icing on you have to let them cool for 15 minutes before icing . I would def be making these again . Next time I’ll add in some pecans and with this recipe the cinnamon buns without the icing is delicious . Love this recipe !
